- Trained Debris Monitors Record Keeping

On August 23, 2005, Hurricane Katrina formed over the Bahamas and proceeded to cross over South Florida. Although it was but a Category 1 storm at he time, its formation was swift and left the region with little time to prepare. As a result of the ensuing damage to property and wildlife, CES was contracted to provide a wide range of services that included Debris Monitoring, Debris Management, and Asset Inspections throughout Miami-Dade County under a $4M master consulting contract with its Public Works Department. CES key personnel immediately met with the County in an effort to provide assistance during this emergency.

CES employees worked with the County to provide the following services:
- Provided properly trained and well-equipped debris monitors as required by the agency
- Provided each monitor with a daily schedule and assignment
- Monitored and kept records collection for all contract haulers according to agency standards
- Monitored and kept records collection for all material movement according to agency standards
- Maintained and updated debris collection maps and spreadsheets throughout the county
- Performed a survey of affected areas and identified debris to be removed; potential hazards; and county assets requiring repairs or replacement
- Investigated and documented any damage to public or private property that occurred during any debris removal
- Coordinated with County staff on all field activities
